When the kids and I got home, I sat down on the floor to play with them and they both came over, sat on my lap and we just had a quiet snuggly minute or two. I wouldn't trade those two little troublemakers for anything in the world. They make me laugh a lot and make me smile all the time. Granted, there is some screaming and every once in a while (ok, often) I hear "Sissy, leave my trains alone!" but they are, by far, the greatest blessing and accomplishment of our lives. It's an honor to be their Mom, I just hope they dig me...at least a little. :-)
I'll be traveling a few days for work this week. That is always tough for me. Thank goodness we have webcams! It doesn't hold the kid's attention for very long but at least I'll get to see them, even if it's only briefly, while I'm away.
My "new year" project is still going. I've lost just shy of 10 lbs in 4 weeks, which isn't too bad I guess. I had one week where my weight stayed the same - had that not happened I would have hit the 10 lb mark, I'm certain of it!! I'm trying to look at the bright side...at least I didn't gain. (blah blah blah)
Well, I have everyone asleep so I guess it's time for me to go too. Didn't get much sleep last night. Mattie had us up most of the night. I'm blessed with fabulous husband and he took his turn with her and didn't get much sleep either. He ended up holding her for an hour and a half until she finally drifted off to sleep. What a guy!
Well, goodnight all. I hope to be back tomorrow.

My blessings are many
A few months ago this post would have looked very different. I would have been dealing with guilt from being away from my kids too much due to a job I didn't exactly love. I would have been unhappy with myself because the stress gave me an excuse to let myself go.
Today I'm in a job I love, which challenges me daily but still allows me to be the wife and mother that I need to be. I'm happier, probably nicer and feeling better. I'm in the middle of my 4th week of transitioning to a healthier lifestyle and I have lost just shy of 10 pounds. I have a long way to go but I know I'm going to do it.
Sometimes our lives get a little out of control and we just need to remind ourselves or have someone who can help us remember that we are smart, talented, valuable and, most of all, appreciated. It really is a little thing that can have such a big impact.
They key to fulfillment is not just having that confidence in your own life but to share it with others. Don't forget to lift up those around you and tell them they're loved and appreciated.
My blessings are many - my family, my friends, a fun and challenging career, joy, happiness...I could go on. The point of this rambling message is that I was reminded today that everyone faces challenges and regardless of how bad your day went, someone out there has had one worse. At the end of the day we need to focus on the positives and make each day better than the last.

New year, new challenge
I'm happy to report that I'm feeling better. Yeah! I still have some annoying leftovers from my cold but I can function now.
Today, I started my latest project. I'm putting myself back on the list of priorities and it's time to get back in shape. Two pregnancies and an unhappy work situation I let myself go - a little too much (oh Lordy!) so it's time to find myself again. I know the little woman is in here somewhere. ;-) I've set some goals and it all started today. I spent a ridiculous amount of money at the grocery today to get our pantry and fridge prepared for what's to come. Eating healthy is expensive but you have to do what you have to do, right?
Well, I'll blog about my progress. I'll try to keep the whining to a mimimum...promise.
